Orchestrated some of India's biggest public offerings, such as for Tata Steel and Reliance Industries. Listed his own flagship JM Financial in 1992 and got IFC as investor. Big break in 1999 when he forged partnership with Morgan Stanley for securities trading and investment banking. Last year sold his stake in brokerage to Morgan Stanley for $445 million and bought out Morgan's stake in investment banking arm for $20 million. Younger brother Ashith and son Vishal work with him.
